Do u have an extra bed?

So i've been on a frenzy looking for an extra bed because i'l be hosting a japanese tenant for a year. i'm extremely excited about the idea. Naturally, i scoured yahoo auctions, my favourite second-hand store to look for one.

Found something that looks like my present bed, which is a good thing, cos then the whole "my room has a theme" nonsense can hold. It costs $60, with the mattress and it brand new. I decided to involve my mum on the decision making so i dragged her to look at it. She was most critical (that's what mothers are for) and absolutely disbelieving about it.

At that point, i was really anxious to secure the deal. cos i thot it was a good one and i knew that there was another buyer interested. (in fact, the other buyer didn't bother with bargaining like i did and immediately bidded for it) But seeing my mum's apprehension, and remembering another of my life's rules ( i have many) that says "Your parents know best". i decided to listen.

My mum then suggested that i call my aunties to ask if they have an idle bed lying around (haha). And it turns out that my DaKooMa (biggest auntie who is also older than my father) has one and the mattress is new! And it's free!

I'm picking it up later. whoo hoo.

On another lighter note, i was discussing with E about me needing a bed and all.

Me: so do u have an extra bed that u can loan to me for a year?

E: for what?

Me: oh, i'm hosting a japanese friend for one year in my room.

E: (pauses to think) no need la. I thought Japanese people like to sleep on the floor?
